RESEARCH INTERESTS
In downstream riverine and estuarine systems, materials transported through rivers easily deposit due to low gradient, have long retention time, and cumulatively influence the ecosystems. My principal research interest lies in how watershed characteristics (e.g. hydrological condition, land-use, forest management) affect recipient ecosystems via riverine material transport. In particular, I am focusing on quality (e.g. C:N ratio, stable isotopes) and quantity of particulate organic matter in river waters as an indicator for watershed conditions and also as a modifier of habitats and food webs in recipient ecosystems.
